Update July 2, 2024 – Land Donation for New Fire/EMS Station in The Kettle, And Some Fun Summer Events

To the Massanutten Community:

We hope you’re enjoying this lovely summer – and a quick reminder: Summer Jam, our annual festival that sends all proceeds to the Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA, is Wednesday, July 3 from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. There will be live music, food vendors, a beer and wine garden and kids’ activities – all crowned by a fireworks display from the top of the mountain!

A FIRE STATION IN THE KETTLE? YES – COMING IN THE FUTURE

Great Eastern Resort Corporation, owner of Massanutten Resort, recently announced the approval of a land donation to Rockingham County. The County intends to use the donated property for the construction and operation of a year-round fire, rescue and emergency management station in The Kettle.

“Massanutten Resort is committed to contributing to the safety of our community,” said Steve Krohn, president and chief operating officer of Great Eastern Resort Corporation. “This new station will enhance emergency response capabilities and help to create a safer environment for everyone in the area.”

Located at the corner of Colo Road and Massanutten Drive, near Painters Pond and the Family Adventure Park, the station will serve Massanutten Resort, the residential areas of the Massanutten Property Owners Association and the forthcoming 55+ Active Adult Community and the Massanutten Station Residential Area. The strategic location of the station will help ensure rapid response times and improved safety for both residents and resort guests.

The resort does not anticipate that the County will undertake construction of the station for several years, and there is no immediate obligation for the county to proceed with its development. Because the facility will be adjacent to resort operations and accommodations, the Resort will work with the County to minimize neighborhood disruption on an ongoing basis.

“This donation represents a significant step in enhancing the overall safety infrastructure of the region,” said Krohn. “We’re proud to be able to support the well-being of the community.”

WATERPARK OPEN HOUSE:

We suspect the hot weather may have kept a few folks home, but we wanted to thank those who attended our recent WaterPark Open House. It’s always great to connect with members of the community.
